Community Aide
Community Aide services are available to persons served that require assistance
in accessing and obtaining success in structured community based programs.
Such activities may include, but not be limited to scouts, girl guides, gymnastics,
sports, recreational lessons and pro-social groups.
Persons served must be registered in a structured community program by the
parent / guardian.

Domestic Child Care
A broad based support service that was designed in recognition of the toll that
supporting an individual with special needs can take on the day to day functioning
of the family unit. Following an assessment of need with the funder, a support
plan is designed outlining tasks required such as basic meal preparation, light
housework, sibling care or supervision of the persons served.

Extraordinary Child Care
Extraordinary Child Care services are accessed when the persons served needs

not be limited to: personal care, physical mobility, processing time, tolerance to
stimuli and behavioural supports.
Venue (in or out of home) and programming resources are at the discretion and
responsibility of the parent / guardian. Activities are specific to each individual

determined solely by the funding body.

Homemaking
Families may be deemed eligible for routine housekeeping services to alleviate
the stress of supporting the person served.
This may be arranged on an ongoing or isolated basis dependent on the

Long Term Respite
Long Term Respite services may be required where the needs of the persons
served, balanced with the needs / dynamics of the family unit, require an
individual to be placed in a supportive living arrangement outside the family of
origin. Long term caregivers and their homes are carefully screened and
supported in providing an optimum environment for the person served.

to years. The parent / guardian retains guardianship, complete access, decision
making, financial responsibility and may have additional requirements outlined in
the agreement with the funding body.

Short Term Respite Services are provided when it is determined, due to the needs
of the persons served, that a break is beneficial for the well-being of the family
unit.

Personal Care Aide
Personal Care Aide services are designed to support persons served with daily
personal care needs. These needs may include bathing toileting, lifts and
transfers, feeding, as well as facilitating mobility programming under the guidance
of a trained professional.
This support may be temporary following a medical procedure, or ongoing, based
on the specific needs of the person served.
